I don't exactly remember when I became fascinated with stringing words together on a piece of paper to tell a story. I think it happened sometime between college and the second born child. But I do remember as a very young child, telling myself stories at night to lure myself to sleep. I remember thinking over the plot lines of a 60s television sit-com I may have watched that evening and thinking how I would end the story differently, or how I would have rearranged the dialogue. I remember walking to school as a very young girl being lost in a daydream and mumbling to myself about a story that was in my head.
I suppose those were all precursors for what was to come.
I still daydream at times. Fantasize. Talk walks and mumble to myself while working out a plot point. But now I channel those stories onto paper. And hopefully, somebody, somewhere, gets a kick out of reading them.
I've published quite a bit of fiction (and also non-fiction) over the years and hope to continue to do so until I leave this life. Maybe in the next one, I'll be born with the stories still circling my brain, spilling off my mumbling lips, and falling onto the page....
